Common People Dance Project AKA Rock Eisteddfod
THU 02 MAY 10am-4pm (Workshop) & 6:30-9:30pm (Artisan Feast)
NOTE This is a 1 day masterclass, for people 12+ of all experience levels. Bring a water bottle. Delicious food is available for purchase on site and there are a variety of accommodation options. Please also note you may be an unstoppable show off once you've got these skills under your belt. (Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult enrolled in the same class).
Common People Dance Project is a dance workshop for everyone, especially anyone who has been rejected at an audition!
- It’s going to be awesome.
- You'll learn the dance over the course of one day.
- There’ll be half time oranges.
- There’ll be dress ups.
With no previous dance experience necessary this class welcomes all ages and all abilities. We've previously had whole families, seniors, ex-dancers, pregnant ladies, non-English speaking students, people with disabilities, men that have never danced before, a security guard and his dog and really any one who just wants to come together amongst a diverse group of people and learn a ridiculously big fun dance routine.
In the evening, you'll have the opportunity (if you choose) to show off your mad new skills in a fast and fun performance during the Artisan Feast.

Getting to the Festival:
Arrive at the beautiful Woodfordia either the morning of, or the day prior to your workshop starting. The address is 87 Woodrow Road, the home of the Woodford Folk Festival. Follow the signs to the reception venue and you'll be greeted and registered and shown your tent or van space. Detailed accommodation options will be released in early February. But the quick version is: own camping or van is free, or you can hire a pre-erected tent or something fancy so you'll feel like a star (we're working on caravans, glamping and teepees!). You are also welcome to travel to site each day if you prefer.
Don't forget that this night (THURSDAY May 2) is the night of our Artisan Feast, inclusive in your ticket price, with a bar featuring drinks at 80s prices and a night of entertainment and delicious chef-cooked food.

"Did my daughter tell you that you're the only person that has ever made me dance? " - Father at Out Of The Box Festival 2018
"Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your wonderful project. Although I think it’s brilliant to create a universal dance, I cherish the little moments. David’s excitement at the “Michael Jackson” and watching him exclaim “I’m a dancer” to each and every individual that passed as we waited for the train after rehearsals one evening. The joy the English as a second language students had each time the “ass slap” came along in the milkshake dance. Families having fun together. The social outcasts finding a place to belong. Thank you for touching our lives with your positive energy and sense of wonder and joy."
